Putting Women First

Women’s Health Services

We know that women’s health is overall understudied and is often overlooked in the healthcare system. The statistics are alarming. The NIH did not start doing research on women until 1993. 80% of chronic pain patients are women yet 70% of chronic pain research is done on men. Up until 2016, the NIH did not require that pain drugs must be tested on women- this was 7 years ago. At PRM, we are experts in women’s health and sexual health and we not only treat the underlying causes of pain, we also advocate for the proper care, sooner.

Stop Suffering In Silence

Our Approach to Women’s Health

Chronic pelvic pain is not normal, but unfortunately, this is not an uncommon experience for women, affecting as many as 15% of women in the United States. Factors that can cause pelvic pain range widely and can include changes in the body brought on by menstruation, menopause, or pregnancy, as well as injuries and pain conditions.

Sadly, many women spend years in pain and are often told their pain can’t be fixed, or the pain they feel is “just in your head.” At PRM, we listen to our patients. We will validate your pain, advocate for your proper care, and provide an approach to treatment that achieves better function, less pain, and a higher quality of life — which is what you deserve.

Pelvic Health Is More Important Than You Realize

Who Can Benefit From Care From a Pelvic Pain Specialist?

All women, especially those who suffer from pelvic pain and pelvic floor dysfunction, can benefit from receiving care for their pelvic floor from a pelvic pain specialist. However, there are certain health and lifestyle factors that may make a woman need treatment for their pelvic floor nerves and muscles.
